#40Things Number 15. Be a vegetarian for a month.
This one I took time before I started. It was one of those things that I really wanted to do but kept postponing.
I kept getting asked, why are you doing this? Did the doctor tell you? Are you trying to lose weight? I actually lost 1kg. The only reason I had for being a vegetarian was the experience.
Surprisingly it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be but it was a bit frustrating at various points. I wanted to go through the experience. It was an exciting journey for me because I realised I have the power to control myself from something that I really like for a period of time without needing any external drive.
Philosophical analogies done, wacha niwaambie, the number of times I was invited for nyama plans and had to eat sijui ugali na mamboga or chips na kachumbari weh! Pregaming was a mess. Kila mtu anajua gabion ni nyama or as Sauti Sol say foundation weka ya samaki. Mboga na mayai mob si foundation delicious at all. And then there were those times during the day when you just want to grab a bite. There’s no bite that doesn’t have meat; samosa, choma sausage, sandwich, burger, sausage, wrap ya java.
But now the month is over wakuu. We are back. Chill n Grill walinitengezea my own plata ya kufungua tumbo to share with my friends. It had chicken, pork, goat na beef. Then a round two of beef, then a round three ya pork. That kilo that I lost niliirudisha yote. Also I made that wooden tray myself #FortyWood Haya nyama plans na pizza zicome sasa.
