When I started cycling again this year, the goal was to keep fit and lose weight. I used to do 10km 3-5 times a week. It was death by thighs wah. I mostly cycled alone until I started meeting other cyclists and slowly increase the distance. The farthest I had ever gone was 55km. As my birthday approached I told guys that I would like to achieve 100km. 8 people joined me. None of us, except 1, had ever cycled that far.
We started at 6am, it was a beautiful, beautiful journey wacha niwaambie. Our thighs got to a point where they were burning, then it’s like they became numb. Now that’s the best coz now you can just keep going. We kept stopping, waiting for each other and telling each other that we can do it. Ata kuna place tulipewa free carrots. Zilikuwa tamu my gosh.
Thank you guys so, so much for helping me tick this off my list. Ngechu, Nimmo, Francis, Peter, Ann, Liz, Davie and Brayo. Ningeenda peke yangu singetoboa. Davie and Liz who surprised me with biscuits and chocolate during the journey tukiwa at the 50km mark… Weh.. do you know how that is gold to a cyclist. Thank you so much. Francis, ahsante sana for the energy drinks when we were at 60km. And Ann thank you for the tea, soup and all you can eat samosas treat when we got back. Much love.
